Costa Rica Power Team® Launches “Certified Green Worldwide”® Environmental Certification Program

“Certified Green Worldwide”® Features 12 Point Environmental Checklist

PRWEB, December 14, 2007 San Jose, Costa Rica. The Costa Rica Power Team, a unit of San Jose based Crystal Clear Properties (www.deededparadise.com), announced today its “Certified Green” Environmental Standards Program.

In keeping with its corporate commitment to maintain high levels of environmental awareness, the real estate sales company instituted its twelve point “Certified Green” program. According to Jason LaFlesch, the President of the Costa Rica Power Team, before the company becomes associated with any new community development, it makes sure that the community’s development plan adheres to the protocols set forth in the “Certified Green” program.

“As a company, we are involved in Costa Rica because we love the country. Like our buyers and certainly like the citizens of our host country, we enjoy all Costa Rica has to offer – its natural beauty, its wildlife, its fantastic way of life. Through our “Certified Green” program we are doing our part to ensure that Costa Rica remains the attractive, natural place that it is”, Mr. LaFlesch said.

Mr. LaFlesch went on to detail many of the key components of the “Certified Green” program. These include the setting aside of ample open space for recreation and the maintenance of natural wildlife habitats, soil erosion safeguards, preservation of wetlands and aquifer regeneration watersheds, self-contained or municipal utilities, and other natural features of the land including steep slope guidelines and the maintenance of natural geologic contours. The program also will impose strict air quality initiatives in order to limit the carbon footprint resulting from human activity.

“The Costa Rica Power Team is taking the lead in setting the standard for responsible development in Costa Rica. We encourage other developers and sales companies to adopt our standards and earn “Certified Green” designation”, Mr. LaFlesch noted. “Our Certified Green program can be adopted and applied by developers worldwide,” Mr. LaFlesch added.

He went on to say that the Power Team created the standards after many years experience working with environmental professionals in the United States and Costa Rica. “We are setting the bar pretty high for ourselves. Costa Rica’s environmental future depends on responsible stewardship of the land,” Mr. LaFlesch said.

The Costa Rica Power Team is the largest Real Estate Consulting Firm in the Central American nation of Costa Rica. It specializes in beach front, ocean view, resort style single family home and condominium communities.

Twelve Point Protocol

1.Protection of Wildlife Habitats while allowing for recreation.

2.Protection of wetlands, natural water courses and aquifer regeneration areas.

3.Soil erosion safeguards; both during road building, construction, and occupation.

4.Utility operations, site specific or municipal, to contain contamination retention features for ground water protection.

5.Development plans consistent with local mandates, inputs and requirements.

6.Maintenance of natural geologic contours.

7.No construction on sites with a slope greater than 40 degrees.

8.Density restrictions; based on a formula of slope and wet land proximity.

9.View Shed protections including project height standards.

10.Construction to use low wattage consumption by electric appliances and fixtures, insulated windows and walls using passive solar techniques, and recycling to reduce the carbon footprint. Potential solar electrical generation may become additional options.

11.Encourage community related sustainable economic development though the use of locally produced building materials and local labor.

12.Good Corporation Citizenship.

By adhering to these guidelines the Costa Rica Power Team is doing its part and setting the standard for responsible stewardship of the land. Costa Rica’s environmental future depends on it.
